I think that's a fair comparison idk I only played half of Origins FUck THE WRITING OF BLOND DUDES ROMANCE idk whatever should have romanced Sten. nvm I can't remember what happened in dragons age but there is no elves in this universe just giant metal bird people that like CRAP ON CORPSES AND ROLL AROUND THEM yeah beat that other medieval fantasy universes, dont have THAT DO YA
Anyway it starts with Alanna approx a million books ago, who goes to knight school pretending to be a boy and fucks some shit up which causes some serious shaking up of not dragon age land, at least socially, because everyone is like ooooh ladies can fight. because IT USED TO BE A THING but people just stopped doing it because of some reason idk I think they go into it in the Beka books but I forget. anyway the important things is that there is magic but only humans are a thing. there's some like stragglers left over and alanna beats them up, also gets some other magical items, and like fights an elemental??? but for the most part its pretty much just humans. Alanna helps keep her super important ex-boyfriend the prince on the throne when his uncle tries to kill him a bunch of times. idk, it actually causes a bunch of problems because Jon has to use all this fucked up magic from the earth itself and puts the land in a huge drought and famine for ages. but anyway point is lots of humans, moderate amount of magic, and like, gods and spirits and things but that's about it.
EXCEPT THEN ITS NOT oh woow enter book series two and BAM Daine who is pretty much like barely human has some shit happen and talks to a lot of animals and then like invades a city on a dinosaur yeah that happened trust me it was great, I wanna say it was a jump the shark moment except she was riding a dinosaur and that's just too awesome, BUT THE GATE BETWEEN THE HUMAN REALMS AND THE DIVINE REALMS OPENS UP OHHH I think this is how no one expects the dragon inquisition starts idk I am going off what kiku told me AND ALL THESE LIKE MYTHOLOGICAL SHIT STARTS POURING THROUGH OH SNAP just got real son. Bam. Now you have metal bird monsters and centaurs and because Daine magical daughter of a god thing, all the animals start getting hella smart around her which is why Kel ends up thinking its fine to just talk to animal later on. THEN THERE IS THE IMMORTALS WAR OOHHH ports get sieged, magical monsters and people start making alliances, things get real yo. Eventually the gate gets closed again, some immortals stay to have parties, sometimes with humans, sometimes eating humans, sometimes just cause they got stuck and pretty much things have changed forever.
AND THEN AFTER ALL THIS SHIT, KEL TRIES FOR HER KNIGHTHOOD what a time to be alive for one smol girl.

Keladry adopts a giant man child, a horse, some birds and literally spends the beginning of the book saving kittens from drowning.
Keladry adopts a dog, a maid and yet even more birds.
Keladry gets on horses and beats up grown up men with sticks, picks a fight about unjust laws with a king, yells at a spirit for being a jerk and gets rewarded by being charged to kill a creepy serial killer in the most unhelpful way possible. also: adopts a griffon.
Keladry adopts a small boy, then gives up any pretense and adopts an entire village and restrains the urge to yell fight me at a whole other country because of aforementioned serial killer problem. Also literally she has a fucking menagerie of animals at this point.
